Job Description

Bartender : This position will involve working throughout the Blue Harbor Resort, a picturesque resort, hotel, and conference center located on the beautiful lakeside of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Bartenders will be responsible for serving and mixing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers. They will prepare mixed drinks and garnishes, prepare beer barrels, serve beer and wine, provide bar snacks, maintain a clean bar and a full inventory of supplies, dispose of trash, and maintain a safe and secure bar for guests. Additional tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor as necessary. General cleaning is required.

Position responsibilities are outlined below:

• Greet all customers in a welcoming manner and record customer orders accurately.
• Prepare mixed drinks by selecting and mixing ingredients according to recipes.
• Garnish drinks by slicing and pitting fruits, preparing olives, and onions, and placing on picks or in drinks.
• Prepare beer barrels by connecting hose couplings and connecting barrels to tap.
• Serve beer by filling glasses with beer drawn from tap, and retrieving and opening requested brand bottles and cans.
• Service wine by opening bottles, decanting, and pouring by the glass offerings.
• Maintain an inviting bar by arranging bottles and glasses for display, removing soiled glassware and empty bottles and cans, and ensuring cleanliness.
• Maintain supplies by ordering, requisitioning, or re-stocking snacks, liquors, wines, beer, and non-alcoholic ingredients, and replacing beer barrels.
• Prepare trash for disposal by separating garbage and recyclable items.
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy bar for guests by following and enforcing standards and procedures, including: judging when customers have consumed too much alcohol, calling for alternate transportation, and complying with legal regulations.
• Enhance bar’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments, and safeguarding customers.

Condo House Attendant : This position will involve working throughout the Blue Harbor Resort, a picturesque resort, hotel, and conference center located on the beautiful lakeside of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

The house attendant position will involve transporting clean and dirty linens and supplies throughout the resort.

Position responsibilities are outlined below:

• Assist Room Attendant with stripping room linens and removing trash.
• Transport dirty linens from rooms to the laundry department and deliver clean linens from laundry to the storerooms.
• Deliver items to guests upon request such as roll-away beds, cribs, irons, ironing boards, etc.
• Monitor the stocking of the storeroom, restocking inventory if necessary, and keep the storeroom clean, organized, and free of trash at all times.
• Work closely with the Floor Manager to fulfill any special requests or duties.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with security regulations.
• Additional tasks may be assigned by supervisor as necessary.

Condo Room Attendant : This position will involve working throughout the Blue Harbor Resort, a picturesque resort, hotel, and conference center located on the beautiful lakeside of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Condo room attendants will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of condos by cleaning rooms in an allotted time period determined by management. Participants must use the proper procedures and tools provided. Additional tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor as necessary.

Position responsibilities are outlined below:

• Clean condo rooms and guest areas, including: making beds, dusting and vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, replacing supplies, and cleaning windows, mirrors, and patios.
• Must be able to work efficiently in a timely matter
• Must be able to work independently to meet team goals
• Utilize chemicals according to directions and familiarize self with all material safety data sheets.
• Follow procedures concerning protection against blood borne pathogens.
• Practice safety procedures, including bending, lifting, and safe use of equipment.
• Report hazardous conditions in work area or equipment to supervisor.
• Maintain a stocked, organized, and clean cart with sufficient supplies.
• Report maintenance issues.
• Document and secure lost and found items.
• Communicate with guests in a professional and friendly manner.
• Keep supplies ready by restocking housekeeping cart at end of shift.
• Assist House person, including delivering guest requests and pick up of used guest items.
• Conserve energy by closing shades and draperies, and turning down air conditioning and heat of unoccupied rooms.

Front Desk Agent – First Shift : This position will involve working throughout the Blue Harbor Resort, a picturesque resort, hotel, and conference center located on the beautiful lakeside of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Front Desk Agents will be responsible for welcoming and serving guests by providing an excellent guest experience. They will welcome and register guests, direct them to their room, relay messages, answer questions about services, maintain and update records, obtain payments, make reservations, and secure valuables. Additional tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor as necessary. General cleaning is required.

Position responsibilities are outlined below:

• Welcome guests by greeting, answering questions, responding to requests.
• Register guests by obtaining or confirming room requirements, verifying pre-registration, assigning room, obtaining information and signatures, and issuing guest room keys.
• Authorize credit cards or obtain cash for the duration of the stay.
• Directs guests to room by showing location on resort map.
• Convey information to guests by receiving and transmitting messages, mail, facsimiles, packages, etc.
• Provide concierge duties to guests by answering inquiries regarding resort and other services guests may require, such as entertainment, shopping, business, and travel.
• Maintain records by entering room and guest account data.
• Collect revenue by entering services and charges, computing bill, and securing payment.
• Make resort and other reservations by entering or telephoning requirements, checking availability, and confirming requirements.
• Secure guest valuables by processing lost and found to the housekeeping department.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed including extra duty requests from manager.

Public Area Attendant – Second Shift : This position will involve working throughout the Blue Harbor Resort, a picturesque resort, hotel, and conference center located on the beautiful lakeside of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

The public area attendant will ensure that the public areas of the resort are kept clean, organized, and presentable.

Position responsibilities are outlined below:

• Deliver guest requests to rooms when required.
• Vacuum and dust floors, furniture, windowsills, tables, chairs, and pictures.
• Empty waste bins throughout the property.
• Clean and sanitize public and waterpark bathrooms.
• Clean windows and glass doorways throughout the property.
• Ensure that the elevators are clean and free of debris.
• Answer guest questions and provide high quality customer service.
• Clean employee bathrooms and dining room.
• Frequently walk through and monitor/clean public areas and bathrooms.
• Additional tasks may be assigned by supervisor as necessary.

Reservations Agent :This position will involve working throughout the Blue Harbor Resort, a picturesque resort, hotel, and conference center located on the beautiful lakeside of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Reservation agents are responsible for answering telephone inquiries in a friendly and courteous manner, and employing sales techniques to secure and process reservations for guest accommodations in a timely manner consistent with Blue Harbor’s standards of quality. Additional tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor as necessary. General cleaning is required.

Position responsibilities are outlined below:

• Answer the telephone and greet prospective guests in a friendly manner using clear, verbal English communication. Listen to callers to understand inquiries and requests. Promptly provide accurate information regarding availability, accommodation types, transportation to and from hotel, rate, etc.
• Promote Blue Harbor Resort & Conference Center and brand-specific marketing programs.
• Assign reservations based on guest preferences and availability.
• Read, retrieve, communicate, and verify information including confirmation number to caller. Input and retrieve data using a computer reservation system and utilizing codes for efficiency.
• Answer questions regarding hotel facilities and services, airline partnerships, local attractions, directions, etc. Know, understand, and communicate applicable deposit and guarantee policies as requested.
• Handle complaints in a tactful manner and negotiate resolutions such as alternative accommodations when hotel is sold out.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Restaurant Line Cook : This position is an entry level line cook or prep cook in either banquets or restaurant outlets, maintaining a positive attitude and cooperative working environment, maximizing productivity and being highly engaged. This position is able to complete basic tasks and functions of the kitchen in an operational role, and can adhere to recipes and exceptional food quality. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
• Ensure proper sanitation BOH operations and keep the restaurant well maintained and organized at all times.
• Willingness to accept the most effective role.
• Provides food preparation assistance by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits; cleaning, cutting, and grinding meats, poultry, and seafood.
• Controls recipes by weighing and measuring designated ingredients.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by cleaning work areas, equipment and utensils;
• Works with steward department as needed – segregating and removing garbage; steam-cleaning or hosing garbage containers; following sanitation standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Management of FIFO and par levels – inventory regulations, requisitioning supplies, and proper storing.
• Maintain proper uniform, name tag, and hat in accordance to Blue Harbor Handbook
• Full cooperation, understanding, and adherence of Blue Harbor Handbook.

Server :This position will involve working throughout the Blue Harbor Resort, a picturesque resort, hotel, and conference center located on the beautiful lakeside of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Servers are responsible for providing excellent service to guests in a courteous manner to exceed their dining expectations. They will provide guests with information to help them make food and beverage selections, record orders, transmit them to bar and kitchen, deliver food, collect payments, and maintain dining ambiance and cleanliness. Additional tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor as necessary. General cleaning is required.

Position responsibilities are outlined below:

• Provide welcoming and customized service to each guest.
• Have a thorough knowledge of the menu to explain offerings to guests and provide information to help the guest make food and beverage selections.
• Perform opening and closing procedures and side-work to setup success for daily operations.
• Help guests select food and beverages by presenting menu, offering cocktails, suggesting courses, explaining the chef’s specialties, identifying appropriate wines, and answering food preparation questions.
• Transmit orders to bar and kitchen by recording guest choices, and identifying special dietary needs and special requests.
• Keep kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression.
• Serve orders by picking up and delivering guest choices from bar and kitchen. Deliver accompaniments and condiments from service bars.
• Respond to additional guest requirements by inquiring of needs and observing dining process.
• Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to guest spills or other special needs.
• Conclude dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant and inviting guests to return.
• Obtain revenues by totaling charges, issuing bill, accepting payment, delivering bill and payment to host person, and returning change or credit card and signature slip to guest.

**Participants will live in downtown Sheboygan in dormitory style housing. Participants will have access to shared facilities at the housing which includes a 26-seat movie theater, a fitness center, and a recreation room complete with: ping pong, a pool table, foosball, darts, an arcade, and shuffle board. Each bedroom has extra long twin beds, closets, dressers, a desk and chair, a mini refrigerator and an ensuite bathroom. There are shared community kitchens located on each floor of the housing. There is also an outdoor deck that has a natural gas grill.

Transportation to work

Students can walk or ride a bike.
