Cabana Host : As a cabana host at Wilderness at the Smokies, job duties include but are not limited to maintaining outstanding customer service, generating sales, merchandising, and safeguarding company assets. Participants will be required to handle money and assist in customer purchases. General cleaning and other responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor as necessary.
Food & Beverage Cashier : As a cashier at Wilderness at the Smokies, job duties include ensuring superior customer service by taking orders for food, preparing food that is ordered, receiving monies for all items located in the deli, and ensuring cleanliness throughout the food and beverage outlets. Participants are also responsible for restocking all deli and market inventory on an as-needed basis, and must possess excellent guest relations and communication skills by dealing with customers in an efficient and professional manner.
Primary job duties include, but are not limited to:
-Greeting all guests in a welcoming manner.
-Taking food orders and preparing food in a professional and efficient manner.
-Operating a computerized register system and issuing receipts for each transaction.
-Keeping counter and shop area clean and free of debris, sweeping all areas and adhering to all health department regulations.
-Cleaning all equipment with cleaning chemicals, including but not limited to coffee machines, iced tea machines, and microwaves.
-Checking identification of customers to verify age requirement for all purchases of alcoholic beverages.
-Restocking all food and non-food items, as needed.
-Balancing cash receipts.
-All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Participants must:
-Be able to work well with others in stressful situations.
-Maintain a neat and clean appearance at all times.
-Be flexible with scheduling procedures and be able to work weekends, mornings, or holidays as needed.
Food & Beverage Cook : As a cook at Wilderness of the Smokies, job duties include preparing guest and associate food and maintaining kitchen sanitation to Board of Health Standards. Participants will be supervised by the kitchen manager and/or executive chef.
Primary job duties may include, but are not limited to:
-Preparing, arranging and continually updating food according to Wilderness at the Smokies recipes, preparations and food presentations.
-Ensuring adherence to Health Department policies and procedures.
-Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen as directed by management, in conjunction with Health Department policies and procedures.
-Reporting and documenting any observed or known safety hazards, conditions, or unsafe practices and procedures to management immediately.
-Adhering to Wilderness at the Smokies standards for guest services.
-Referring guest problems or complaints to Supervisor.
-Performing all other duties as assigned by management.
To perform this job successfully, participants must be able to perform each of the above duties satisfactorily and must:
-Have an aptitude for guest service and take pride in Wilderness standards of excellence in food preparation and cleanliness.
-Be flexible with scheduling availability.
-Be able to work well with others in stressful situations and have a positive attitude.
-Maintain a neat and clean appearance at all times.
Food & Beverage Server : The Server takes guest food and beverage orders and inputs orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff. The Server is to ensure superior customer service and assist wait staff and management with various service tasks, including bussing tables and ensuring total cleanliness throughout the restaurant.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Check all patrons’ identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages. Do not serve any alcohol to a person under the age of 21
– Collect payments from customers
-Write patrons’ food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff
-Take orders from patrons for food or beverages
– Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
– Serve food or beverages to patrons, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required
– Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes
– Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning
– Answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
– Inform customers of daily specials
– Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons
– Wash hands on a frequent basis to ensure cleanliness of the Food & Beverage operations
Front Desk : As a front desk attendant at Wilderness at the Smokies, job duties include but are not limited to accommodating resort guests by registering and assigning rooms to guests, issuing room keys, transmitting and receiving messages, keeping records of occupied rooms and guests’ accounts, making and confirming reservations, and presenting statement to and collecting payments from departing guests.
Other job duties include:
-All job duties relative to guest service: greet, register, assign rooms, verify credit, compute bills, collect payments and make change for guests, etc.
-Performing bookkeeping activities such as balancing cash and guest accounts, reviewing accounts and charges with guests during the check-out process, posting charges for rooms, food & beverage and other miscellaneous charges, and assisting in solving billing discrepancies.
-Attending training sessions and practice training initiatives.
-Striving to be the best through knowledge of products, policies, procedures & knowledge of techniques, skills, equipment, procedures and materials.
Houseman : As a houseman at Wilderness at the Smokies, job duties include but are not limited to assisting Room Attendants and Inspectors, transporting clean and dirty linen and supplies, disposing of trash, responding to calls from the front desk, and completing other duties as required.
Additional job duties may include:
-Assessing store room inventories and re-stocking as required.
-Assisting Room Attendants – including stripping bed linen and removing trash.
-Transporting dirty linen to laundry and sorting laundry.
-Transporting clean towels and linens from laundry to store rooms.
-Keeping store rooms clean, free of trash, and organized at all times.
-Delivering items to rooms as requested by guests through the front desk (i.e. irons, extra linens, etc.)
-Picking up and returning items used by previous guests that are found in rooms or hallways.
-Emptying waste receptacles at main and side entrances.
-Using the chemicals that have been provided in accordance with directions; familiarizing self with material safety data sheets and using PPE (personal protective equipment) as necessary..
-Practicing safety procedures, including bending, lifting and safe use of equipment. Includes following safe procedures for protection against blood borne pathogens.
-Reporting hazardous conditions in work area or equipment to management.
-Documenting and securing lost and found items and turning them into Lost & Found in accordance with Company policy.
-Communicating with guests in a professional and friendly manner.
-Completing the required forms as soon as possible upon discovering any damage to property in hotel rooms or items missing from room inventory – then submitting them to Manager.
Lifeguard/Aquatics : As a lifeguard at Wilderness at the Smokies, job duties include ensuring a safe and healthy environment for swimmers. They monitor guests and the resorts’ pools and pool areas and must recognize and react properly in emergency situations.
-Lifeguards will be working in or near chlorine
-Lifeguards will be working in direct sunlight and may be standing, sitting, or walking for long periods of time while on shift.
Primary job duties may include, but are not limited to:
-Checking and maintaining chemical levels in the pools and operating the pool filtration system.
-Cleaning the pool and pool areas.
-Enforcing pool area rules and gate control.
-Removing trash from the water park.
-Cleaning bathrooms and toilets as assigned.
Before being scheduled to work as a lifeguard, all participants will be expected to pass the Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Certification Course. The certification course takes approximately 24 hours to complete and will be conducted on site upon participant’s arrival at Wilderness at the Smokies.
The cost of the certification course will be paid for by the employer, but participants will not be paid for the time they spend completing the certification course.
To complete the certification course successfully, participants must be prepared to:
-Swim a distance of 300 yards (275 meters) using a front crawl freestyle stroke or breaststroke without resting.
-Complete a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10 pound (4.5 kilogram) brick from the bottom of a 10 foot deep (3 meters deep) pool, and bring the brick to the surface of the pool.
-Tread water in a pool for 2 minutes without using their arms and without resting.
***Participants who do not pass this certification course will not be allowed to work as lifeguards and will be placed in another department.
Position changes may not be available and are based on employer need.
Park Services : A Park Services Associate’s primary purpose is pressure washing the water park floors, stair towers, and over all cleaning of the water parks. This is to provide a clean and safe environment for the overall satisfaction and safety of all guests.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Pressure wash all surfaces of the waterpark floors and stair towers weekly
• Pool Vacuuming
• Setup and inspection of umbrellas
• Clean tables and chairs
• Scrub concrete areas
• Clean bathrooms
• Clean up of AFR (Accidental Fecal Release) and AVR (Accidental Vomit Release)
• Clean slides
• Carrying and fixing inflatable tubes
• Pick up trash and changing trash bins
• Sweeping
• Blowing walkways
• All other duties assigned by manager as necessary
Room Attendant/Housekeeping : As a housekeeper at Wilderness at the Smokies, job duties include cleaning guest rooms and property common areas to the resort’s high standards. The accommodations that participants will be primarily cleaning are hotel rooms and villas that sleep from 1 to as many as 17 people. Rooms range from having 2 single beds to a combination of single beds, bunk beds, or murphy (drop-down) beds. Many of the rooms have partial or full kitchens, bathrooms, and furnished living areas, which the participants will be responsible for cleaning. Primary job duties include, but are not limited to:
-Picking up after guests.
-Making beds.
-Dusting Furniture and Fixtures.
-Washing Floors.
-Vacuuming carpeted areas.
-Emptying trash cans.
-Cleaning the bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, and showers.
-Keeping the guest rooms stocked with accessories and the bathrooms stocked with supplies.
-Cleaning windows.
-Helping on occasion with the laundry, as assigned by the supervisor.
Housekeepers start work promptly at 9:00am, and are given a list of rooms to clean for the day. The number of rooms is based upon the occupancy of the hotel divided by the total number of housekeepers. There is a required completion time for all hotel rooms; participants must assist other housekeepers and management to complete all remaining housekeeping tasks for the day. The end of the work shift varies, and the shift only ends when all hotel rooms are cleaned for the day.

Housing
$90 per person, per week. One-time linen fee of $34. Linen fee will be taken out of first paycheck.

** Participants will live in the brand new Wilderness housing located near the hotel. There will be two dormitory-style buildings. Each room will accommodate 4 participants and each room has a private bathroom. On the ground floor of each building, there will be large, shared kitchen facilities. Additionally, each room will have a microwave and mini-fridge. There will be security staff on the property at all times. Participants can walk or bike to work. Rent will be $90 per person per week. Upon arrival, participants will be required to pay first and last week’s rent ($180), as well as a $200 security deposit for a total of $380. There is a one-time linen fee of $34 which will be taken out of the first paycheck. Of the $200 security deposit, $50 is a non-refundable admin fee. $150 is refundable at the discretion of the housing provider if participants complete their housing contract and leave their unit in good, clean condition. Participants should read the attached housing guidelines from the employer. Participants will be required to sign and adhere to a housing contract with employer.
